Alabama 5-Star QB commit tells what role NIL played in his decision to commit to the Tide

Alabama football’s five-star quarterback commit Elijah Haven joined Greg Olsen on Youth Inc, and Olsen asked him about the role NIL played in his decision to commit to the Tide.

Haven is a senior at Dunham High School in Louisiana, and he is a top 2027 prospect. The five-star recruit is one of two 2027 quarterbacks verbally committed to the Crimson Tide at the moment.

The five-star committed to the Tide over Georgia in April, and he told Olsen discussions about NIL did not play a major role in his decision. He even went on to say that talks about NIL did not occur until he was down to two schools.

“Honestly, for us, it’s never about the money but about the place I want to develop the best at,” Haven said. “So, those conversations didn’t come till pretty much I had my top two. It was Bama and Georgia, and we didn’t really dive deep into those conversations until we got to that top two.”

Haven is coming off a season where he led Dunham High School to a state championship in 2025, the school’s first state title since 2004. He threw for 3,931 yards and 62 touchdowns as a junior, and he also added 794 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
