After the 20-17 loss to Georgia, Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer reacted to the personal foul by Dijon Lee Jr. on the final drive of the game that ultimately led to Georgia kneeling the clock out.

“We preach emotional maturity, and I really feel strong across the board that we have that with our team and would have never expected that to happen,” DeBoer said in his press conference after the game. “Just got to give yourself a chance. We just talked about a year ago what happened the other way. The same situation kind of about the same time in the game, you know, the opposite way. And you know, you’re going out there giving everything you got. You just gotta give yourself a chance, and so, emotional maturity is what it comes down to, and we’ve been pretty good at that going on the last two years and obviously, the moment comes up like we had just now. We didn’t respond the right way.”

Lee Jr. had a tough day overall. He was beat multiple times as quarterback Gunner Stockton went his way all night long.

On the final drive of the game, Lee Jr. picked up a personal foul, and Georgia was able to take a couple of knees to run the clock out while leading 20-17.

The starting status of Lee Jr. could be in jeopardy after this game, but the question that would need to be answered is who would start over him? Lee Jr. could remain the starter, but there is growing frustration about his status as a starter, especially after the Georgia game.

Alabama will travel to Rocky Top next week. The Crimson Tide will face Tennessee at 2:30 p.m. CT.
