The Way It Is: Inside Nick Saban’s three-year contract extension at Alabama

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Saban has been fully committed to the University of Alabama for 10 years, and now, the program decided to return the favor by making him the highest paid head coach in college football.

On Tuesday, UA’s Board of Trustees confirmed on a three-year extension to Saban’s five-year contract. The extension goes into 2025 and it includes a $4 million signing bonus, which allows the 65-year-old to bring in $11.1 million after the 2017 football season. Saban has earned this deal after guiding the Crimson Tide to four national championships, five Southeastern Conference championships and seven consecutive recruiting titles in 10 seasons at Tuscaloosa.

Yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine was live Thursday on The Way It Is, discussing Saban’s extension and a few reasons as to why he cannot seem to shake away from Alabama.
