In college football, the best relationship is between a quarterback and his receiver. Receivers depend on quarterbacks to get them the ball. Quarterbacks depend on receivers to get open and make huge plays. When both positions work together, it becomes a nightmare for defenses.
Aside from running backs, Alabama keeps talented receivers in its arsenal. From David Palmer to Amari Cooper, the Crimson Tide has produced some of the best receivers in college football. Here is a list of the best play makers Alabama’s had at the wide receiver position.

10. Kevin Lee (1990-93)
- For his career, Lee had 60 catches for 1,093 yards and three touchdowns.
- His best season was in 1993.
- In 1993, Lee totaled 26 receptions for 510 yards and a touchdown.
- Under head coach Gene Stallings, Lee appeared in four bowl games for Alabama.
- Lee won an SEC title with the Crimson Tide in 1992.

9. Amari Cooper (2012-present)
- Cooper emerged on the scene for Alabama as a freshman in 2012.

7. Tyrone Prothro (2003-05)
- Prothro was an all-purpose player in his time at Alabama.
- As a receiver, he had 58 receptions for 863 yards and five touchdowns.
- On special teams, Prothro recorded 29 returns for 774 yards and a touchdown.
- His best season receiving was in 2005.
- In 2005, Prothro grabbed 17 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns.

5. Al Bell (1985)
- Bell was a transfer who made an impact on the team in 1985.

- In the 1985 Iron Bowl, Bell totaled four receptions for 92 yards and helped set up the game-winning field goal from Van Tiffin. The Crimson Tide defeated Auburn 25-23.
- Under head coach Ray Perkins, Bell helped Alabama notch a 9-2-1 record and a berth in the Aloha Bowl in 1985.
- Alabama defeated Southern California 24-3 in the Aloha Bowl.
4. Don Hutson (1931-1934)
- Under head coach Frank Thomas, Hutson was All-American and a national champion in 1934.
- Hutson was credited with creating many of the modern passing routes used in the National Football League today.
- He was one of the greatest receivers in NFL history.
- Hutson is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
3. Joey Jones (1980-83)
- For his career, Jones had 71 receptions for 1,386 yards and 15 touchdowns.
- He ranks third among Alabama’s career touchdown receivers and seventh in career receiving yards.
- Jones was named All-SEC in 1983.
- He was a member of the University of Alabama’s All-Decade Team for the 1980s.

- Jones ushered in the big play, physical receiver to Alabama.
