Kaine Williams, 4-Star S, set to announce commitment

2021 4-Star safety, Kaine Williams, is set to announce his verbal commitment Friday at 5:45 pm CST via Fox 8 in Louisiana.

Williams was originally set to announce his commitment in March but decided to hold off. He dropped a top three instead and included Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M.

There are several reasons to believe Alabama is in a good position with the Louisiana product.

The Tide was able to host Williams before the current recruiting restrictions were put in place, which is something that is turning into quite an advantage for several programs with the recruiting dead period being extended through June. Since Williams had already visited Alabama, the Tide’s coaching staff have been able to use this dead period to sell Williams more on their program and build a strong relationship instead of trying to host virtual visits and attempt to show what all they offer remotely.

The Pipeline from LSU to Alabama has also been pretty strong under Nick Saban. The Tide has pulled in at least one prospect from Louisiana in each recruiting class since 2007. Several of them have gone on to play in the NFL, including Landon Collins, Cam Robinson and Eddie Lacy.

Williams brings plenty of potential to the table standing 6-2 and weighing 205 pounds. He possesses a bigger frame than most high school defensive backs, which allows him to help in run support. As a junior, he had 50 tackles, three forced fumbles and four interceptions for John Ehret High School.

The Tide has consistently landed close to five defensive backs over the last three recruiting cycles. It is reasonable to believe they will go after a similar number in the 2021 recruiting class.
