He experienced some success at Michigan State and Washington, but Germie Bernard is ready to explode at Alabama.

Bernard was one of the best offenses in college football last year, aiding the Huskies to a Pac-12 Championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

He caught 34 passes for 419 yards and two touchdowns for Washington; however, Bernard could be in a bigger role for the Crimson Tide.

Isaiah Bond's departure to the University of Texas opens an opportunity for Bernard to be a playmaker. The 6-foot-1, 203-pounder from Las Vegas (Nev.) has had a strong spring, including several plays made in two scrimmages.

Alabama's had success with transfer wide receivers, but quarterback Jalen Milroe shared with reporters the highlights of what makes Bernard a fit for the Tide. He has been a good addition to a talented receiver room.

"I like Germie a lot," Milroe said Tuesday after practice. "Great size, great speed, tough, confident, and when you have a player that plays with confidence, it is hard to stop them. I'm proud of him because of the leader he is. When he came here, it was a hard transition coming from Washington. Now that he's here in the south, he's in a different environment. He is not from the south, but to see where he is now, he has been effective. I am super proud of who he is as a person and he's a great player for our team."

Bernard came close to winning a national title at Washington, but he sees Alabama as a better chance to get it done.

Crimson Tide fans will get their first look at him Saturday in the A-Day Game.
