The quarterback room will garner much attention as Jalen Milroe returns as the Tide's starter from 2023. As a rising junior, the native Texan propelled Alabama to a Southeastern Conference Championship and College Football Playoff appearance. He earned  Most Valuable Player honors in the SEC Championship Game and finished last season with 35 touchdowns to six interceptions.

Milroe is immensely talented, but he has three others guys pushing him for a chance to start. Ty Simpson, a redshirt sophomore from Martin, Tenn., is one of them. He came to the Tide as a five-star in the 2022 recruiting class from Westview High School.

Simpson did not get many opportunities last year; however, he did lead two touchdown drives in Alabama's week two matchup against South Florida in a 17-3 victory. He completed 11 of 20 passes for 179 yards, including some nice plays to wide receiver Jalen Hale versus Kentucky. Simpson was with his father, Jason, at Alabama's indoor practice facility crafting his passing mechanics during Super Bowl weekend. The former Gatorade Player of the Year in 2021 for the state of Tennessee is preparing himself for a shot to become the starting quarterback. Simpson possesses the capability to be efficient in the passing game.

It is his third year in the system, so now is his time to rise.
