Nick Saban's retirement, as shocking and unexpected as it was, has taught everyone something.

We are seeing who is really committed to the Alabama football program.

Several players have made "business decisions" to transfer elsewhere, but a lot of players have remained to battle for Kalen DeBoer. Spring practice, summer workouts, and fall camp will be very intriguing to watch. Everything is new with the Crimson Tide program, but DeBoer wants to prove he can win in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama fans have reacted to every player in the transfer portal, but a former Tide standout has an important message for fans. Marquis Maze, a former two-time BCS National Champion wide receiver (2009, 2011), told everyone to "focus on the guys that's here!"

Maze is not a fan of the entitlement that's happening in college football. He came early in the Nick Saban era where players earned their spot. The locker room was sacred and players went to war for each other. The game has evolved to how much financial opportunities came come from name, image, and likeness, and it has taken much away from the game we appreciate.

Maze appears to believe in what DeBoer and others are doing on Alabama's staff.

We will see what the team looks like in the spring.
