With Ga'Quincy McKinstry set to announce his commitment Sunday, Oct. 25, I have updated our recruiting prediction on the 5-Star recruit to "Slight Lean" to Alabama after he was previously listed as "Trending Up." Under our Locks and Leans Feature, Slight Lean means: Alabama looks to be a slight favorite over the other teams recruiting this recruit.

After talking to sources around McKinstry's recruitment, I have good reason to believe Alabama is in a great position with the Pinson Valley prospect. Of course, his recruitment has had different teams leading at different points. I felt Alabama was in a good position with him the moment he announced his commitment date was Oct. 25, which came on the heels of a huge game by one of his closest friends in Alabama's true freshman defensive back, Malachi Moore. It was also around the same time Alabama basketball received a pledge from JD Davidson, who also has a relationship with McKinstry.
