Shawn Burgess-Becker has been granted his release from the University of the Alabama, per Ryan Bartow of 247Sports. Burgess-Becker, a graduate of Monarch High School (Coconut Creek, Fla.), enrolled at Alabama with his teammate—Calvin Ridley—in the Crimson Tide’s 2015 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety had three tackles in 13 games as a freshman last season. Regardless of the program he chooses, Burgess-Becker will have to sit out a year (three years of eligibility).
He came to Alabama as a four-star prospect.
