Texans release WR Richard Mullaney

After being signed to the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent, Richard Mullaney will now be in search of a new NFL team. The franchised released him on Monday, six days before it kicks off training camp on July 31. News of this appeared on the Texans’ transactions site.

The former Alabama standout totaled 38 catches for 390 receiving yards and five touchdowns in one year at Tuscaloosa. Mullaney transferred to the Crimson Tide in the summer of 2015, after recording 83 catches for 1,160 yards and five scores during four seasons at Oregon State (2011-14).

Despite not being taken through seven round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Houston took a chance on the 6-foot-3, 208-pound target. He was pivotal to Alabama’s Southeastern Conference championship and College Football Playoff national title last season, but now he focuses on continuing a professional career.
