Dallas Cowboys sign former Alabama wide receiver Richard Mullaney

Just three weeks after being released from the Houston Texans (July 25), wide receiver Richard Mullaney has found a new NFL team. The former Alabama standout was signed by the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, per the team’s website. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones and company made room for Mullaney after losing rookie Chris Brown to a broken foot (could miss 6-8 weeks).

Mullaney was not selected through seven rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft, nevertheless, he gave his all on every play in one season at Alabama. The Thousand Oaks, California native transferred to Tuscaloosa from Oregon State in 2015, totaling 38 catches for 390 yards and five touchdowns.

He caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Coker against Florida in the 2015 Southeastern Conference title game, helping the Crimson Tide secure a 29-15 win at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Dallas has talent at wide receiver with Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley, but the addition of Mullaney could be special for the Cowboys.
