Alabama and LSU led the Southeastern Conference with having 13 players announced to the 2016 preseason Coaches All-SEC Teams on Thursday, according to the league.
The Crimson Tide had an SEC-best seven players notch first-team accolades, including Cameron Robinson (OL), O.J. Howard (TE), Calvin Ridley (WR), Jonathan Allen (DL), Reuben Foster (LB), Eddie Jackson (DB) and JK Scott (P). Second-team honors were earned by Alphonse Taylor (OL), Tim Williams (LB), Minkah Fitzpatrick (CB) and Adam Griffith (PK).
Redshirt sophomores Ross Pierschbacher (OL) and Marlon Humphrey (CB) both garnered third-team All-SEC preseason accolades. Head coach Nick Saban and the Tide enter the upcoming season in search of its 17th national championship in school history. It returns 14 starters from a unit that obtained a 14-1 record, culminating in both a conference and national championship in 2015.
Alabama will face Southern California on Saturday, Sept. 3 at AT&T Stadium to open its season.
