Is 2016 Alabama Defense Best in Nick Saban Era?

Cedric Mason - Touchdown Alabama Magazine

For the past two years, Alabama fans have engaged in hot debate as to whether the 2015 defense or this year’s 2016 defense could possibly be the best defense Nick Saban has had since his time at the Capstone. To date, if you ask any Alabama fan, the majority will point to the 2011 team as Saban’s most dominant as that team led almost every defensive statistical category in the nation. Not to mention the fact they held the LSU Tigers scoreless and ineffective in the BCS Championship game that year.

The season has just begun, but the college football world witnessed an absolute destruction by the Tide against the USC Trojans on Saturday as they held Clay Helton’s team to 194 yards of total offense (many coming against the second-team defense) and zero touchdowns. The jury is still out and the season is far from over, but that won’t stop fans from wondering just how special this defense can be. Take a look at Touchdown Alabama Magazine’s Twitter poll and cast your own vote.
