Alabama’s golden boy from California will take his talents elsewhere. Redshirt freshman quarterback Blake Barnett was absent from Tuesday’s practice and per Matt Zenitz of AL.com, he has decided to transfer from Alabama. Despite earning the start against Southern California, Barnett could not hold off Jalen Hurts.
Barnett, a former five-star recruit, totaled 3,404 passing yards at Santiago High School during his senior year in 2014. He joined Damien Harris, Calvin Ridley and Minkah Fitzpatrick in choosing to sign with Alabama for its 2015 class. Barnett is the eighth player to leave the Crimson Tide this season, following Maurice Smith, Christian Bell, Daylon Charlot, Kendall Sheffield, Adonis Thomas, Charles Baldwin and Shawn Burgess-Becker.
