John Dixon, a recruit in the 2019 class, tweeted earlier today that he received an offer from the University of Alabama. The 5’10” cornerback from Tampa, Fla., is a scrappy athlete. He runs a 4.76 in the 40-yard dash according to ESPN.

His ability to keep up with receivers could make up for the height that he does not have. With a body size that he possess an aggressive bump ‘n’ run style coverage is going to be is go to style of play. Cyrus Jones made this style of play very effective at Alabama. He was even able to use it on special teams during his final year, returning 42 punts for 530 return yards with four touchdowns. Dixon does possess the speed to do the same.

His elusiveness and acceleration will also be a vital part of his post-interceptions game as well; as it appears that every interception he make could potentially be a pick six. What team is more fund of defensive touchdown then the Crimson Tide? Dixon is also a wide receiver for Wharton High School, a position that has probably help him become a better secondary player. The rising junior has two years of high school to grow and perfect his craft.

South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and LSU have already offered Dixon making Alabama the fifth Southeastern Conference school to offer him. Surprisingly, his hometown school of Florida State haven’t reached out and offer but it is easily predicted that they will very soon, making Alabama have to battle with Florida schools for another recruit.
