A native of Pinson, Ala., Simmons was a January enrollee to the Crimson Tide’s 2016 recruiting class. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, he tried to work his way into being a valuable contributor to the Tide’s receiving corps. He grew to being a household name at Clay-Chalkville High School, reeling in 47 passes for 1,228 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior.
During the Tide’s spring game in April, Simmons totaled 82 yards receiving on six catches – including a 15-yard touchdown grab from freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the first quarter. He joins a Moutaineers’ team that lost both Daikiel Shorts and Shelton Gibson to the National Football League, but it returns Ka’Run White.
White had 48 catches for 583 yards with five scores through 11 games.
