In his first game back from a season-ending knee injury versus Florida in last year’s Southeastern Conference Championship Game, Alabama linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton led the Crimson Tide to a 24-7 win over Florida State to open its college football season.
Hamilton posted eight tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and a critical sack of Seminoles’ quarterback Deondre Francois on fourth down. Behind the senior, Alabama’s defense limited Florida State to 250 total yards offensively (40 rushing) and four third down conversions on 13 attempts.
He was of seven names listed for player of the week honors from the Tide’s coaching staff, and as of today – Hamilton received SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors from the league’s coaches.
Hamilton and Alabama will host Fresno State next week at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
