Ravens LB Tim Williams absent from practice

Tommy Gilligan - USA TODAY Sports

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tim Williams did not dress out on Sunday during a 20-0 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. After surging well to finish the preseason, head coach John Harbaugh hopes to have him in uniform this week versus Cleveland at home.

Williams did not practice today via Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun; however, the third-round pick from this year’s NFL Draft is expected to one day replace Terrell Suggs as an edge rusher.

Despite not playing much in his first two seasons at the University of Alabama, the once five-star prospect exploded onto the scene as a junior and senior – totaling 19.5 sacks and 28.5 tackles for loss combined. Williams was a pivotal component on a defense that collected 106 sacks, 45 turnovers (35 interceptions, 10 fumble recoveries) and 15 touchdowns.

He was a part of three Southeastern Conference championship teams and a College Football Playoff national title squad in 2015. Hopefully, Williams will return soon to the Ravens.
