Here we go again.
When it had quite a few linebackers suffer injuries last season, the prayer from those highly invested in Alabama football was no more medical mishaps. To the dismay of that request, two players have sustained injuries in fall practice but both don’t seem to be of the season-ending variety.
Upon speaking after its first scrimmage of the preseason, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban singled out redshirt senior linebacker Jamey Mosley and sophomore safety Daniel Wright as the duo two dealing with minor setbacks.
According to Saban, Mosley has a separated shoulder and the team “hopes to have him back for the first game” against Louisville on Sept. 1. in Orlando, Fla. Mosley embraced the challenge in 2017 after seeing Anfernee Jennings, Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis go down with injuries.
He collected 12 tackles – including 1.5 for loss and a sack in 12 games.
As for Wright, a shoulder issue is bothering him too. Saban said he is “still being evaluated and maybe he can play this season.” Wright made an immediate impact as a freshman, providing a marquee tackle on Florida State wide receiver Keith Gavin in the game’s opening kickoff.
He recorded 10 tackles in 2017 and was in position to earn the starting spot at dime.
