Alabama Football Post-game: The Tide rolls in Mississippi

The University of Alabama football program continues to dominate after an absolute blowout, beating Ole Miss 62-7 in Oxford, Mississippi.

Alabama football- If there were any questions as to whether or not the Alabama defense would be able to slow down a high powered passing attack, they were answered tonight. After allowing Ole Miss to score on their first possession of the game, the Tide defense shook off the initial punch from Matt Luke and company and blanked the Rebels for the remainder of the game. The defensive backfield for Bama was absolutely suffocating, as Trevon Diggs and Deionte Thompson each had career-best games. Diggs had two crucial pass breakups and Thompson was all over the field making it nearly impossible for Ole Miss to find any type of rhythm offensively. Alabama’s other starting safety, Xavier McKinney, also played well recording his first pick-six of the season.

With the defense hitting on all cylinders, the Tide offense showed up and showed out in their first road game of 2018. In only playing the first half of the contest, Tua Tagovailoa continued to build on an already impressive season going 11-15 for 191 yards with two touchdowns. He also ran the ball five times for 47 yards at 9.4 yards per carry. Jerry Juedy was on fire tonight as he hauled in three passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 45.3 yards per catch. Eight different players recorded atleast one catch for the Crimson Tide tonight. Damien Harris led the Tide rushing attack averaging 12.4 yards per carry on five attempts. All three of the top Crimson Tide running backs in Damien Harris, Najee Harris, and Joshua Jacobs scored on the ground.

Alabama leaves Oxford, Mississippi with yet another victory, and without any injuries, as they set their sights on TAMU and continue their run towards another College Football Playoff appearance.
