From a fourth-round pick to making his first Pro Bowl, Eddie Jackson continues to prove doubters wrong and showing the Chicago Bears organization on how smart it was to select him.

While he’s in Orlando (Fla.) this weekend, the former University of Alabama safety was awarded the Best Coverage Player honor from Pro Football Focus. The website that dives into the analytics both college and professional football like the player that Jackson is becoming.

He was one of the National Football League’s top defensive backs in 2018, posting 15 pass breakups (second on Bears), six interception (second on Bears) and three defensive touchdowns – including two pick-sixes.

His efforts as a ball hawk helped Chicago’s defense rank among the best in the league, and it finished with a 10-4 record – securing its first NFC North Division crown since 2010. Jackson was also named first-team All-Pro for the NFL via Pro Football Writers Association. Listed at 6-feet and 202 pounds, his ability to track the football and create scores off turnovers are rare for a player that many felt lacked the size for an elite safety.
