Tracking undrafted free agents of Alabama football

Dale Zanine - USA TODAY Sports

UPDATED: According to his Instagram, former Alabama defensive lineman Johnny Dwight posted a photo of himself with the Houston Texans logo next to it.

The post was made on Sunday, following the NFL Draft, and it could be an indicator of Dwight signing with the Texans as an undrafted free agent.

No news has been reported as to whether he has signed or if the post means he has been awarded a minicamp tryout, but best wishes to Dwight.

With the NFL Draft in the books, the remaining players that were not selected through seven rounds will sign to teams as undrafted free agents.

Quite a few of these individuals hail from the University of Alabama and while their names were not called during the event, they still can provide much needed value to a franchise.

After following his older brother to the Crimson Tide, Jamey Mosley will reunite with C.J. Mosley as a member of the New York Jets. Although sources reported the news to Touchdown Alabama Magazine, the elder Mosley took liberty of sharing the excitement on social media.

The Jets are serious about becoming Super Bowl contenders and having a duo of intelligent, football-minded brothers is a step in the right direction.

Saivion Smith, a cornerback, played one season with the Tide after coming over from junior college and Louisiana State University. Despite the Florida native not being polished at the position, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Smith will sign with the Jaguars.

In a previous airing of In My Own Words, yours truly talks about how Hale Hentges is reminiscent of strong, dirty work tight ends such as Dallas Clark. Per a report from Rod Smith, the sports director for KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, Mo., Hentges will sign with the Colts.

He is a native of Jefferson City, Mo., and a former four-star recruit.

Lester Cotton, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and former five-star in the 2015 signing class, announced via Twitter that he has signed with the Oakland Raiders. The scouts from the “Silver and Black” were in attendance to watch Cotton at his Pro Day and were impressed with his potential.

As for D.J. Lewis, Derek Kief and Josh Casher, news should come out soon on where they will choose to sign. Stay connected to tdalabamamag.com for all up-to-date information on Alabama football.
