Alabama 4-Star athlete signee, Kristian Story, was named Alabama’s 2019 Mr. Football at the ASWA banquet on Wednesday.
Story accounted for 13, 219 yards and 175 touchdowns during his career, which are both state records. The 4-Star recruit also led the Lanett Panthers to two state championship victories en route to making 9 interceptions and 189 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Story was also named the back of the year for the 1-A classification.
There have been talks about Story possibly lining up on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Nick Saban said the Lanett product will have a say so in what position he plays at the next level although quarterback has been his priority position for most of his high school career.
“Kristian Story is a great athlete,” Saban said. “I think Kristian actually sees himself maybe at another position. He has been so productive in so many ways, whether it’s running the ball, throwing the ball and making interceptions on defense. As I always tell guy, we want you to play where you think you have the best opportunity to develop a career as a football player. We give everybody an opportunity to do that and we definitely will in his case.”
