His head coaching stops at Texas and South Florida did not work out, but Charlie Strong is now at a program that is becoming known for rejuvenating careers.
He could have taken the defensive analyst role at the University of Florida – where he won two BCS National Championships as a defensive coordinator – however, he chose to come to Alabama in order to learn from Nick Saban and pass on some knowledge as well.
After two seasons of rough patches on defense, Saban believes that Strong can restore the group back to being productive and respected.
Names such as Lane Kiffin, Michael Locksley, Dan Enos, Mike Stoops, Mel Tucker, Butch Jones and Steve Sarkisian have all come through Alabama for a tune-up. The trio of Kiffin, Locksley and Tucker are head coaches now, and Sarkisian is in his second year as offensive coordinator.
On Friday, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine discussed Strong and why coming to the Crimson Tide was the best move for him via In My Own Words.
