This brings us to an exciting announcement of Birmingham’s retail baked goods company, Emily’s Heirloom Pound Cakes. Emily’s Heirloom Pound Cakes is operated by founder, April McClung. Its story is unique and inspiring as what started out as a fundraiser, has turned into a rapidly-growing and booming business. The company’s slogan is “Making Memories From Scratch” as the inspiration comes from “Big Mama” Emily Magnolia McClung. Emily’s pound cakes are all made from scratch and reminds consumers of the mouth-watering taste they had growing up with their own families.
“More than ever in today’s climate, it’s about supporting each other,” said April about partnering with Touchdown Alabama Magazine. “Black businesses are not just dealing with a pandemic, but also systemic racism. When we are blessed to be a blessing, we should make every effort to do what we can.”
