WATCH: Time to get the Mac Jones for Heisman campaign started

Even though it has just been two games, he is operating one of the top scoring offenses (45.0 ppg) in college football.

With Tua Tagovailoa now in the National Football League, the University of Alabama has Mac Jones at quarterback for its football team and he has been fantastic thus far. The Crimson Tide is coming off a 52-24 win over Texas A&M, and Jones was responsible for 435 passing yards with four touchdowns at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

His output for yards in the matchup ranks fourth all-time in history for the most in a single game.

Jones has completed 38 of 51 pass attempts for 684 yards with six scores to one interception through two games, and earned three awards from his performance versus the Aggies.

While a couple of media outlets believe it’s time to promote Jones for the Heisman, is now the right moment to start the campaign?

Many fans want to see how he plays against Georgia first; however, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine feels now is the proper situation to consider the redshirt junior a contender in the race. After being doubted all summer, Jones has played like a top collegiate signal caller versus two veteran defensive fronts.

On Monday’s airing of In My Own Words, I made my case for Jones needing to be in the Heisman conversation.
