It isn’t very often when NFL teams show their cards 0n who will be selected ahead of the draft. Although the Pittsburgh Steelers have not made any formal announcements, one of the team’s leading receivers has made it clear who he wants to join the offense.
Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster made an appearance on “The Michael Irvin Podcast” and was asked where he believes the team will go with its first-round pick.
At first, Smith-Schuster shared that the team may look at someone on the defensive side since the last offensive pick came all the way back in 2012.
“I think the last one we have (drafter) on offense is (David) Decastro,” Smith-Schuster said. “Hopefully, we get someone on offense to help us out.”
But once Smith-Schuster was asked for a specific pick he had no problem naming one of the top running backs in the class.
“Najee Harris man, one of the best running backs out there that would fit for our team,” Smith Schuster said. “If we had him it would be cool.”
The Steelers are in serious need of ground support following the 2020 season. This past offseason the team has lost the likes of running back James Connor (Arizona Cardinals), center Maurkice Pouncy (retirement), right tackle Matt Feiler (Los Angeles Chargers) and left tackle Alejandro Villanueva still remains unsigned.
Even with all of its pieces, the Steelers rushing attack ranked dead last in the entire NFL in 2020 and Harris can at least try and dig them out of that spot.
