Even after the conclusion of the draft, the debate amongst the class’s quarterbacks is far from over. A total of five quarterbacks were selected in the first round of the NFL Draft a week ago cementing that their immediate futures will all be linked together.

One debate that is still hot on the stove is the one between Alabama quarterback Mac Jones and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

Not only did the two play against each other in college but analysts and scouts have debated who should be taken in front of the other and who will ultimately have more success at the next level. The Chicago Bears selected Fields with the 11th pick while the New England Patriots picked Jones with the 15th.

Still, following the draft, the performance debate is still being had between the two. But one former NFL defensive back knows exactly who he’d rather play against at the next level.

Darius Butler made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday and discussed Jones’s career at Alabama and his overall ability. Butler highlighted that from watching every snap of his final season with the Crimson Tide he didn’t see the “zip” on the ball that he would want in a quarterback.

He would go on to say that if it came down to it he would much rather line up and play against Jones than Fields.

“I definitely watch as if I’m planning against this guy,” Butler said. “I’m like I would want to play against (Jones) before Justin Fields.”

At this point, only time will tell who will be a better NFL quarterback.
