Alabama tied with league-high 15 selections on Athlon Sports’ Preseason All-SEC team

Athlon Sports has started with the first of many preseason all-conference teams.

These lists usually start in May and go until July, as college football makes its return.

On Thursday, the media outlet unveiled its all-conference team for the Southeastern Conference.

Alabama and Georgia tied for a league-high 15 selections, while LSU and Texas A&M had nine apiece. Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Mississippi State each had eight selections, and Arkansas (seven) and Florida (six) rounded out the next group.

Athlon Sports split everything into four teams.

The Crimson Tide had five first-team selections.

First-Team (Offense & Defense)

WR: John Metchie

OT: Evan Neal

LB: William Anderson

LB: Christian Harris

S: Jordan Battle

Second-Team (Offense & Defense)

QB: Bryce Young

TE: Jahleel Billingsley

OL: Emil Ekiyor

*LB: Henry To’oto’o (pending transfer, committed to Alabama)

CB: Josh Jobe

S: Malachi Moore

Third-Team (Offense, Defense & Specialists)

RB: Brian Robinson

DL: LaBryan Ray

LB: Christopher Allen

K: Will Reichard

Fourth-Team (Defense)

DL: Tim Smith

Alabama is trying to repeat as national champions for the first time since 2011-12.

After going undefeated last year, Crimson Tide fans want to see the program do it again.

Nick Saban returns much talent to the roster for the fall, but it will depend on how well the players work together. This season will be interesting; however, the Tide is hungry to get the job done.
