Alabama football lost a talented wide receiver to the NCAA transfer portal this week.
On Thursday, Joshua Lanier entered his name in.
The Tuscaloosa native was a skilled walk-on who transferred in from the University of North Alabama. An alumnus of Tuscaloosa Academy, Lanier arrived on campus in 2019. He did not play his first season, but his efforts in practice caught the attention of coaches. The 5-foot-11, 160-pounder earned time in seven games last year as a contributor on special teams.
He currently has both an SEC Championship and a CFP National Championship ring.

During the Crimson Tide’s spring game, he totaled two receptions for 10 yards.
Lanier did not see action at wide receiver in 2020, but he gave Alabama’s secondary the blues in practice.
He posted a video on Twitter of him destroying the defensive backs. Whether it was Ronald Williams, Daniel Wright, Kristian Story, Jahquez Robinson, or Marcus Banks, Lanier ate them up on routes. He also had the speed to run away from other defenders for touchdowns.
Whoever gets him out of the portal will have a crafty player to add value to its offense.
He wore No. 84 in his time at Alabama. Fans of the Crimson Tide wish the best for Lanier.
