He was one of five Alabama players that got an endorsement with YOKE gaming company to capitalize on his likeness; however, DeMarcco Hellams is very focused on this season.

A native of Washington, D.C., the junior will be one of two starting safeties for the Crimson Tide.

Hellams has earned this opportunity because of his work ethic. The 6-foot-1, 208-pounder turned in a strong performance in 2020 with 62 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and three pass breakups. His output in tackles was good enough for fourth on the roster, and Hellams was dominant versus Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinal (Rose Bowl) matchup.

He recorded a game-high and career-high 12 tackles, including one sack in Alabama’s 31-14 win over the Fighting Irish.

This year’s defense could potentially be the best of the Nick Saban era, and Hellams is preparing for it. He posted a video to Twitter of him performing power clean drills in the weight room. His teammates and the strength staff cheered him on, as he looks to be a menace in the secondary. Jordan Battle, the other projected starter at safety, was part of the cheering group.

A massive year for Hellams could lead to him becoming a high-round NFL Draft pick.
