Alabama lands 15 players on Preseason Coaches All-SEC Teams

Fifteen University of Alabama football players were selected to the 2021 Preseason Coaches All-SEC teams, the league office announced Tuesday. The Crimson Tide’s 15 selections, which includes a league-best seven players on the first team, are the most of any school.

The seven All-SEC First Team selections feature two offensive players in wide receiver John Metchie III and offensive lineman Evan Neal, and five defensive players in defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis, linebackers Will Anderson Jr. and Christian Harris and defensive backs Malachi Moore and Josh Jobe.

Tight end Jahleel Billingsley and offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor Jr. are on the second team offense, while linebacker Henry To’oTo’o and defensive back Jordan Battle are represented on the second team defense.

Rounding out the list on the All-SEC Third Team are running back Brian Robinson Jr., defensive lineman LaBryan Ray, linebacker Christopher Allen and placekicker Will Reichard.

The Crimson Tide welcomes back 13 starters and 50 lettermen for the upcoming season. On offense, 23 letterwinners and three starters return, while the defense will have 23 lettermen and nine starters back on the field, with one starting specialist returning.

Alabama will travel to Atlanta, Ga., to square off against Miami in the season opener Saturday, Sept. 4. The two teams will meet inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, set for 2:30 p.m. CT start on ABC.
