On a night filled with controversy amongst the Alabama fanbase, the community will be able to sleep a bit more soundly knowing its quarterback is taking home one of the top awards in college football.

Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young won the 2021 Maxwell Award which is given to the top player in college football.

Young turned in a spectacular season for Alabama completing 68 percent of his passes for 4,322 yards and 43 touchdowns while leading his team to an SEC Championship victory a week ago.

Alabama has now produced back-to-back Maxwell Award recipient with wide receiver DeVonta Smith winning the award in 2020. The program has also had five winners of the award in the past 10 seasons which is more than any other school.

Young will now turn his attention to Saturday night as he looks to be the first Alabama quarterback to ever win the Heisman Trophy.
