Elias Ricks sent waves through college football when he announced he was transferring to Alabama Wednesday, continuing Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide’s run of landing top-tier prospects from the portal.
With most of its 2022 recruiting class locked in with National Letters of Intent, Alabama may go back into the portal to add more talent to its roster for next season. Alabama fans have not been shy on social media about who they want the Crimson Tide to land via transfer, and LSU sophomore wide receiver, Kayshon Boutte is at the top of many of their lists. However, Boutte is not in the transfer portal, and Alabama coaches and players are not allowed to actively recruit him.
But there are some other prospects that are currently in the portal that Alabama could go after.
Georgia Tech transfer running back, Jahmyr Gibbs most likely sits at the top of Alabama’s transfer board after it landed Ricks. Gibbs entered the transfer portal in November at the conclusion of Georgia Tech’s football season. He finished the year with 746 yards and four touchdowns in 2021. He also compiled 465 receiving yards and 1,800 all-purpose yards.
The Georgia native was one of Alabama’s top running back targets in the 2020 recruiting class.
Zach Evans is another player in the transfer portal to know. Similar to Gibbs, Evans received a lot of interest from Alabama as a prospect during the 2020 recruiting cycle. Evans rushed for 646 yards and five touchdowns for TCU in 2021. He also added 10 receptions for 130 yards.
New names have constantly entered the transfer portal since the end of the season. The Crimson Tide could emerge as a possible landing spot for players who enter the portal in the future.
