Alabama football fans received great news in Monday’s media availability.
Pete Golding, Alabama’s defensive coordinator, spoke to reporters in Dallas, Texas. He provided insight on several topics, but Golding also updated the status of cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis.
The redshirt junior missed three games, including matchups against Auburn and Georgia. He has been bothered by a hip injury, but the Mobile (Ala.) native has been the Crimson Tide’s most consistent corner.
Armour-Davis recorded 30 tackles, four pass breakups, and three interceptions in 10 games.

According to Pro Football Focus, he ranks at No. 43 for cornerbacks.
The 6-foot-1, 192-pounder grades at 82.2 in 364 coverage snaps. Alabama has been working Khyree Jackson for an opportunity versus Cincinnati, but Armour-Davis has practiced all week. Golding said the veteran defensive back ‘looks well to him.’
“Jalyn, for us, has had a lot of experience in games,” Golding said. “He is a smart football player. He is one of our longer cornerbacks with top-end speed. We are playing longer guys that can run and catch the ball, so the experience he has and the composure he has, we need. It is good to have him back.”
Alabama needs to have everyone step up on defense. Cincinnati has playmakers at wide receiver and tight end.
The return of Armour-Davis is huge for the Crimson Tide’s defensive secondary.
