Respectable sources confirmed the news to Touchdown Alabama Magazine. Perine, a native of Prattville, Ala., came to the Crimson Tide as a walk-on punter in 2019. He took over the starting duties off the bench in Alabama’s matchup versus Tennessee.

After hitting a 51-yard boot, he ran down the field and made the tackle. Perine’s excellence as a specialist impressed Tide fans.
He totaled 13 punts that season for 581 yards. Perine averaged 44.7 yards per punt with three boots going 50+ yards.
Despite his success, he did not see the field in 2020 or 2021. Perine was on two SEC Championship teams and one College Football Playoff National Championship team.
