David Ballou is entering his third season as Alabama’s Director of Sports Performance.
He and Dr. Matt Rhea came to Tuscaloosa together in 2020 as the Crimson Tide’s new strength staff. The duo cut down Alabama’s soft tissue injuries by 50 percent, and it allowed the Tide to have an undefeated national championship year.

Despite injuries in 2021, Ballou, Rhea, and Jeff Allen look to have the injury prevention tools fine-tuned for next season.
According to a report from Nick Underhill, the Saints are showing interest in poaching Ballou and Rhea.

Ballou, in showing loyalty to Nick Saban, sent a subliminal “Roll Tide” tweet on social media.

He is showing that he wants to stay put at the University of Alabama and continue building the sports science department. The Tide returns a roster full of talent to start spring practice and next season. Ballou is focused on earning his second national title.
