4-Star DL Xzavier McLeod talks Alabama offer, upcoming visit

Xzavier McLeod is scheduled to unofficially visit Alabama on March 26 after picking up an offer from the Crimson Tide in February.

McLeod is a product of Camden High School in South Carolina. He currently holds 16 D1 offers, but that number is expected to change after an impressive showing at the Under Armour Next Camp in Atlanta Sunday. The Crimson Tide are the latest program to offer the South Carolina product.

McLeod’s Alabama offer came from Nick Saban.

“I found out from coach Saban,” McLeod said. “He gave me the news himself, and it was an honor being and a blessing to get an offer from another top tier college like Alabama.”

Alabama was originally expected to host McLeod this weekend for its junior day. His schedule has changed in hopes that his whole family can get to Tuscaloosa later this month. McLeod said he is looking forward to seeing what catches his eye during his trip to Tuscaloosa.

“I want to see the little small things that stand out about them that will help me make my decision,” said McLeod.

The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder caught the eyes of Touchdown Alabama’s staff at the Under Armour Camp Sunday during one-on-ones. He won most of his battles with an explosive first step and great use of his hands. As a junior, the Alabama target was disruptive from different positions along Camden’s defensive front, but he is projected to be an interior defensive lineman at the next level.

As his recruitment continues the progress, the hard work does not stop for McLeod. He set a school record by cleaning and jerking 315 pounds a day after competing at the camp.

“The next step for me is to get better during the off-season, so I can start the season off strong,” said McLeod. “I also want to drop a top five or seven.”
