Alabama football added a new face to its strength and conditioning staff.

Rick Danison joins the Crimson Tide as an assistant strength coach. He made the news official via social media, coming over from Michigan State University. Danison was the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning for two years with the Spartans.

He served as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Indiana for nearly 11 years. Danison was hired in July 2009 and served until March 2020. He became part of the David Ballou and Dr. Matt Rhea duo. Rhea departed to the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. Paul Constantine will serve as Rhea’s replacement. Ballou, Rhea, Constantine, and Danison all were together at the Hoosiers’ program. Familiarity remains on Alabama’s strength staff, and it is good.

Drew Svoboda has a new role on Nick Saban’s coaching staff. He served as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach in 2021. The Tide hired Coleman Hutzler for special teams and Joe Cox for tight ends, which moved Svoboda off the field.

According to rolltide.com, Svoboda is the senior special assistant to Saban. He and Sal Sunseri have the same role for the fall.

Alabama will return to spring practice next week.
