What was meant to be an exciting first glimpse at a new lethal connection in the NFL, turned into a week’s worth of memes and mockery for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
During the team’s offseason workouts the Dolphins’ social media team posted a video of Tagovailoa’s first throw to the newly acquired Tyreek Hill and Twitter had a field day.

Many NFL fans critiqued Tagovailoa saying he significantly underthrew Hill on the play and questioned why the video was even posted in the first place.
Since then, the social media team has been much more careful in its clips involving Tagovailoa throwing the football and has even seen a bit of an uptick in big plays from the quarterback.

The Dolphins’ coaching staff has even had some positive things to say about Tagovailoa this past week as his quarterback coach Darrell Bevell complimented his accuracy and timing.
“I think really a sense of timing and accuracy would be the first two things that I would say,” Bevell said. “Tua’s got, really, a great feel for both of those. That’s where I would say it starts.”
Whether Tagovailoa has truly returned to elite form like he was at Alabama is still to be determined. But in the mean time the franchise will likely continue avoid self inflicted controversies even if they’re as little as social media posts.
