The Washington Commanders have signed Phidarian Mathis to his rookie contract.
As an Alabama football alum, Mathis got selected in the second round of the NFL Draft. He turned in great numbers for the Crimson Tide in 2021 with 53 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, nine sacks, six quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. Mathis earned permanent team captain honors and pushed the Tide to an SEC Championship.

Aaron Wilson, an NFL reporter for Pro Football Network, broke the news on Mathis getting signed.

Mathis deal is worth $7.5 million for four years via Spotrac and includes a 2.639 million signing bonus.
He won two College Football Playoff National Championships at Alabama, but Mathis is prepared to work in the pros.
