People had sentimental questions for Bryce Young in Monday’s press conference, but the Alabama quarterback provided a positive update on his throwing shoulder heading into the Iron Bowl.
Young and the Crimson Tide’s offense struggled in 2021 at Jordan-Hare Stadium; however, the former five-star used the final possession to take Alabama down the field in 12 plays (97 yards) for a game-tying touchdown.
Young found wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks for a 28-yard score to tie the game at 10.
The Tide earned a 24-22 victory in overtime, and Young became the program’s first signal-caller to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy. He suffered a sprained AC joint to his throwing shoulder against Arkansas and has been on a ‘pitch count’ in practice since then. He started matchups against Tennessee and LSU, but Young brought a new report on his shoulder to reporters.

“I’m good,” he said to the Alabama football media.
Young credited the Tide’s training staff for getting him healthy.
He will not repeat as the Heisman winner, but Young’s numbers have been more impressive this year. The junior has had to overcome Bill O’Brien, receivers dropping passes, and inconsistent offensive linemen. Young totals 2,664 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns, and four interceptions. He stands with 27 total touchdowns and looks for a stellar Iron Bowl outing.
He has an NFL future waiting for him, but Young stated Saturday’s game is the only thing he is focused on.
