DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and John Metchie all were impactful playmakers on Alabama’s undefeated College Football Playoff National Championship team in 2020. Before this NFL season started, Metchie shared a message through the Houston Texans that he had been diagnosed with a curable form of leukemia. Support came from all over the league, but especially his brothers from the Crimson Tide. Smith wore a Metchie t-shirt during the Philadelphia Eagles’ matchup against the Texans and embraced Metchie in pregame. On Sunday, Waddle rocked a Metchie shirt and played well for the Dolphins versus Houston.

He caught five passes for 85 yards in a 30-15 victory for Miami, but Waddle is all about love for his brother. Metchie got selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by Houston. He finished last season with a team-high 96 receptions for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns at Alabama. Crimson Tide fans are looking forward to his return next year to start his professional career.
