Ethan Johnson picked up an offer from Marshall University recently, and it is easy to tell why the Thundering Herd put an offer on the table.
Johnson attends Shades Valley High School in Alabama. The junior is a part of the 2024 recruiting class.
The Thundering Herd got Johnson’s recruitment rolling last week.
“It was a dream come true,” Johnson said when asked about his offer from Marshall. “I always wanted to play at the next level and for me to receive my first offer, that was just big. That felt like an accomplishment for me.”
There are plenty of reasons to believe this is just the beginning for Johnson. He has the frame of a future D1 linebacker at 6-foot and approximately 220 pounds. He plays with the desire to hit everything that moves as hard as he can. His ability to come downhill, sift through traffic and stack and shed were on full display during his junior season.
Johnson said he wants to get better at reading offenses, but he also knows his strengths at the moment.
“I get downhill,” said Johnson. “I got a nose for the football, and I can play in space as well.”
Shades Valley 2024 LB Ethan Johnson @EthanJohnson055 should see his recruitment grow in coming months.

Auburn is one of the schools showing interest in Johnson at the moment. His recruitment is expected to grow in the future.
