4-Star DB Jayden Lewis commits to Auburn

Auburn added to its 2024 class with a commitment from Jayden Lewis Wednesday.

Lewis attends Anniston High School in Anniston, Alabama. The four-star recruit is the Tigers’ second 2024 commit. He joins Moody’s four-star defensive back, A’Mon Lane, as Auburn’s second in-state commit.

Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee were included in Lewis’ top six. The Anniston product said he chose the Tigers because of the amount of love they have shown him over the years.

“It was really the culture, the atmosphere and the environment I felt every time,” Lewis told Touchdown Alabama. “I got to go where I am wanted. They showed a lot of interest in me with the relationship I got with the whole staff, going on two to three years. Me and Coach Etheridge have been talking a lot since I was in the ninth grade, going to camps, winning MVPs. That really made Auburn top of the line to me.”

Auburn recently hired Hugh Freeze as its head coach. Lewis feels the vibe of the Tigers under Freeze fits him.

“It was a good vibe with the other staff,” Lewis said, “But this staff fits me. I probably still would have committed even with Coach Harsin and the other staff, but this staff made me feel and say I am going to go ahead and do it right now. It was not just a feeling. I had been wanting to do this, and I just had to find a perfect time to do it. The new staff made me just want to go ahead and say I am committed.”

Auburn’s 2024  recruiting class is just getting started with only two verbal commits at the moment. Jayden wants to help change that.

“Coaches can talk to you all you want, but you need some commits and players and other recruits, need their advice on why you should choose Auburn,” said Lewis. “I am very vocal, and I am a very vocal leader, so I feel like I can really help Auburn because I am 110 percent committed.”

The new Auburn commit plans on working on his game as a whole in the future. At 6-foot and 175 pounds, he is a fast defensive back for the Anniston Bulldogs, who closes on the football really well over the top. He is a threat to score whenever he comes up with football.
