Josh Jacobs earns inaugural Jim Brown Award following an impressive year

Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (#28) celebrates game-winning 86-yard TD run in overtime against Seattle Seahawks.

Josh Jacobs will get a bigger contract this offseason, but will it come from the Las Vegas Raiders?

The organization has a decision to make, especially after how dominant Jacobs was in 2022.

He betted on himself after the Raiders did not pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract and excelled. As a former University of Alabama standout, Jacobs led all running backs in the National Football League for rushing yards. He totaled 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns on 340 carries, earning the NFL’s rushing title. The Oklahoma native took home the FedEx Ground Player of the Year award and the inaugural Jim Brown Award in Thursday’s NFL Honors Ceremony. The Jim Brown honor is given annually to the player with the most rushing yards each season. In four seasons, Jacobs has compiled 1,000+ yards from scrimmage — including three 1,000+ yard rushing campaigns. He kept Las Vegas in the NFL playoff hunt, despite it going 6-11.

Jacobs got selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He helped the Crimson Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017 and two Southeastern Conference titles (2016 and 2018), but it will be interesting to see if he remains with the Raiders.
