Davidson RB Derrick Butler running away with offers

Derrick Butler

Derrick Butler has seen his recruitment steadily grow after earning his first offer from UAB in January.

Butler attends Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama. He holds 11 D1 offers at the moment, including offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and UCF. The junior feels his growing recruitment is a result of the work he has put in.

“It’s a blessing to have the offers and opportunities I have received,” Butler told Touchdown Alabama. “I’ve worked my tail off for this. I’m just proud to be able to live out my dream one day. I feel like I started believing in myself. I realized I’m not the biggest, strongest or fastest. One thing that I did realize is I could change my approach to every negative situation and make it positive.”

Auburn, Coastal Carolina and South Alabama are a few of the other programs showing interest in Butler. College coaches are liking the way the Davidson running back carries the football and the way he carries himself off the field.

“They love how explosive I am and compliment my vision on the football field,” Butler said. “From there, the coaches get a dose of my personality, and they love that I’m a great human being as well.”

At 6-foot and 190 pounds, Butler is an elusive running back, who can tie moves together in the open field. He displays good vision when carrying the football and can make plays in the passing game out of the backfield.
