Pleasant Grove freshman RB Jordan Smith pushing to make noise on recruiting front

Jordan Smith

Jordan Smith physically looks like he should be preparing for his senior season of high school football, but he is just coming off of his freshman campaign for the Pleasant Grove Spartans.

Smith is a 2026 recruit, who currently holds an offer from Austin Peay. The freshman is excited to have one offer next to his name, but he knows he has to remain humble and keep pushing more success.

“I was excited, but at the same time, coach (Darrel) LeBeaux always talks about protecting the standard and all of us having a little different mentality and having to mature all together as one to win. So I had to be mature enough to learn how to control that.”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder flashed as a physical ball carrier last season for the Spartans. He also flashed some elusiveness with some precision cutbacks when running the football. Smith said he feels his tough running style is one of his biggest strengths, but he wants to continue to get a better feel for the running back position.

“Right now, I feel like what I do well is running the ball hard and finding which hole to hit,” said Smith. “But I know, there is much more improvement that I can really do out here on the field, such as blocking and learning more plays. One of the biggest things I want to improve on is seeing the hole before it actually gets there. It is basically when you’ll walk up to the line, you’ll just look and you’ll see where the play is before it develops. I want to learn how to develop more on that and how to get my feet up more whenever I’m coming through the hole.”
