Jahmyr Gibbs, a former Crimson Tide running back, has inked his deal for the Detroit Lions. The native Georgian has a fully guaranteed contract of $17.8 million for four years. Gibbs has a fifth-year option and a $9.9 million signing bonus.

He got selected at No. 12 overall in the draft. The 5-foot-9, 199-pounder excelled in rookie minicamp, organized team activities (OTAs), and mandatory minicamp. Detroit likes what Gibbs brings as a runner, receiver, and return specialist. The coaching staff looks at him as someone that resembles Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey. Gibbs, a transfer from Georgia Tech, became crucial to Alabama’s offensive attack in his lone season. He made several marquee plays that guided the Crimson Tide to 11 wins.

He finished second-team All-SEC and second-team All-American for all-purpose yards via USA Today.

Gibbs assisted Alabama to an Allstate Sugar Bowl victory, and now he turns the page to the NFL.
